Sunflowers and Train

One chilly but beautiful day in February I took my camera and drove to the train tracks on the opposite side of town. I intended to only take pictures of the trains, but when I got out of the car and was walking along the tracks I was enamored by the seemingly thousands of sunflowers that actually flanked both sides of the tracks. I was going to try to do a photo realism painting of the photo, but the painting took me elsewhere. This is painted on a very large plank of wood approximately 5 long and about a foot and half wide. It's very colorful and very big. I know I already said that. ;D

Hey I absolutley love this painting, it is really cheerful and i love the idea that it is painted an a large plank! I do paintings in a long format too. I am glad that you didnt do a photorealistic depiction of the sunflowers, this more painterley version is great. I am laid up with a fractured ankle after a motor accident and dont feel up to painting at the moment, but your painting has wet my appetite to get going again! Isnt this web site great, being able to see other artist work! I shall keep an eye on your painting as it inspires me! thanks Paul
