"The Sick Rose" - this is another one of the paintings I did for my first gallery show - Alchemy Unleashed! The original painting itself sold there at the show, but luckily I scanned her in and have prints, etc. available. And no - people kept asking me at the show - this is NOT airbrushed. It is painted by hand, the old-fashioned way with a normal brush (which takes a lot longer, hehe). "The Sick Rose" is inspired by the 1794 William Blake poem of the same title (from one of his illuminated books, no stranger to Alchemy himself). **** "O Rose thou art sick. The invisible worm, That flies in the night In the howling storm: Has found out thy bed Of crimson joy: And his dark secret love Does thy life destroy." **** I however have interpreted with a slightly sweeter tone! My own original acrylic painting. ©Jasmine Becket-Griffith - prints are available at http://www.strangeling.com and http://zazzle.com/strangeling*
