White tailed eagle: Haliaeetus albicilla

With the archipelago in the background, the eagle quietly observes the rays of sunlight breaking through the distant showers The white-tailed eagle is native to northern Europe, including southern Sweden, where this painting is set. In this region the bird's diet is likely to be fish or sea birds. The Swedish archipelago follows the south coast of Sweden, comprising thousands of islands of all sizes. There many protect areas and so birds and wildlife are abundant. It is a beautiful area, a popular tourist and holiday destination and yet still maintaining a wilderness feeling; quiet backwaters like the one painted are relative easy to find.
