Artist Comments: "On the Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon, the 1942 tugboat ‘Earnest’ lies tied up alongside her dock. The afternoon sun warms the sky beyond the Astoria-Megler bridge. I found it fascinating to see the colors of the tug match the building on the left. She indeed seems ‘at home’ and at rest. Pastel was a natural choice for this painting as the colors are soft and ‘mellow’, conveying the mood of rest."
