They protect the nest with all they have. They are small birds and stand about 20cm on their long thin legs. When disturbed - like when I came between them and the nest to take the photos they will rush at you with wings spread wide open to appear larger. It was such fun capturing them but I did not disturb them for too long since the female had to get back to the nest.
