Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1847. A garden surrounded, almost leaving the city center. It is the impression one gets from the Source Itajuru. Even though there is no documentation on the actual function of the source, it seems that its waters supplied an Indian fishing camp tupinambá, in addition to providing drinking water to the forts and European ships that trafficked Brazil wood in the region. In 1847, by order of D. Pedro II and on the occasion of his visit was a hut built of stone to protect the source, with the ceiling decorated with tiles imported. The Fountain was of great importance for the colonization of the region, because thanks to its excellent drinking water, the city was supplied with it until mid-century. Today is an open space for visitations and its gardens are native trees like the Brazil-wood and guabiroba.
