Lost and Found was inspired by
an 87 year old man named
Que. Que sat in his doorway
along Dien Bien Phu Street in
Saigon, as he does every day.
His life is no longer even a
lingering memory, at least to
him. Que has Alzheimer's
Disease and sitting alone with
a small smile on his face is
what he does these days. On
this day, a soft furry cat has
found him and along with this,
has found comfort in his gentle
spirit.
The painting is 37" by 52"
(framed) and was done in
acrylics in 2010. As with many
of my paintings, I have added
sand from Vietnam, to add a
special meaning, at least to
me. I think that many vets who
served in Vietnam have never
forgotten the feel of that sand
and many times, when these
vets touch my paintings, they
have many memories that
return to them from a time long
past. In this painting in
particular, I wish I could have
returned Mr. Que's memories,
but since I cannot, I can
preserve a memory of him!
