Artist Bio

Helen Kennedy graduated with honours from the Ontario College of Art in 1985 in the Fine Arts Program. She received the Mrs. W.O. Forsyth Scholarship for proficiency of painting excelling in experimental art after the Impressionistic period. She credits her strong observation skills with helping her to develop a unique viewpoint in her art that builds and goes beyond her training.

Helen takes the familiar lines, shapes, and colours we find all around us in nature, and from these building blocks works them together to create an abstraction. Helen aims to expand imagination and in the process create a more classic alternative.

Helen’s own response to nature engages the natural world through shapes, colour and design. With this in mind, she works hard at drawing the viewer’s gaze into specific areas of her art through the layering of colours, contrasts and shapes thus creating mystery, depth and understanding within her compositions.

Many of Helen's works are available for purchase. If you are interested in acquiring one of her pieces, feel free to send her a message.
