Artist Bio

Bio:

Born in China and raised in New York, I started my artistic school at Fiorello H. LaGuardia HS, where I studied fine arts techniques. From there, I went to School of Visual Arts in NYC. At SVA, I majored in Traditional Animation and made a couple of award winning shorts. All the while, I began to apprentice for Kathleen Gilje and Su-en Wong, studying traditional painting and drawing. Most recently, I have been involved in a reality based program called ARTSTAR. This series is based in the New York fine art scene and I was chosen to be in the cast of eight up and coming artists by Jeffrey Deitch of Deitch Projects gallery. ARTSTAR airs in June of 2006 on the satellite Voom network. The show will concurrently be showing at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens, New York. As part of the program, I showed with the other ARTSTAR artists at Deitch Projects gallery in their Wooster Street space. This was my first gallery show.

INSOMNIA:

In a lifetime of chronic, twitching over activity, I have found myself sleeping less and less and consuming more and more caffeine. Coffee became my drug of choice only a mere 2 years ago. It quickly became a fuel for my manic lifestyle. Working 12 hour work days, followed by 3 hours of mindless puttering around, had become a norm and my coffee habit worsens each day. So did my tossing and turning when I actually made it to bed. When I did find myself drifting off, my nights were interrupted quickly by hallucinations that could only be described as a very poorly conceived Looney Tunes episode. From this, Insomnia was born.
