Hello and thank you for visiting my page. My name is Gary Sternemann and just a couple of years ago I once again began drawing. Yes my fellow artists, I realize you gasp at someone stopping their own creative process, but its true. When I was a young boy, growing up we only had three television stations and in those days the parents ruled what they wanted to watch. So to occupy myself I would draw and I really enjoyed it. But life takes interesting turns and I became too busy to draw. Once again you gasp! In my family you had three choices, Policeman, Fireman or join the military. I chose the military and have never regretted that decision and I was able to see the world. Oh yes Art was always there but it was just for fun and I never took my talent seriously. After I completed my military service, raised my children, this single man suddenly had time for himself. I took up a second job to occupy my time and I would sketch people during the quiet times. You know what, more and more people began asking me to draw them. Suddenly I realized my life's dream was to be an Artist (better late than never). That is how I came up with the name "Gary the Artist" not that I'm trying to be presumptuous, but I am an Artist. I hope you enjoy my work and I will add in more as I complete them. Thank you for looking at my portfolio. For those of you who have just started to draw and feel your work isn't that good, I love this quote from Canadian Poet Derek R. Audette: "No matter how substandard you feel your skill or talent may be, if you never produce your art, the world will always remain deprived of it."
