My name is Maureen Middleton and I am a self taught artist. I have always loved drawing and was able to handle a pencil quite well even as a young child. I live in Yorkshire in England on the 'doorstep' of the Yorkshire Dales. I have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren who spend a lot of time with me and with whom I have a very close bond. I have loved the TV series Stargate SG1 for 10 years and you will find quite a bit of artwork related to the characters of Stargate in my portfolio, particularly the lead actor Richard Dean Anderson who plays Jack O'Neill, my favourite character of all time.

I have started to do watercolours of any beautiful scenery I come across and of parts of The Netherlands where my good friend Gerda lives. Passionate about my artwork, I am hard on myself and will not accept anything I believe is not up to scratch! Portraits HAVE to be accurate and look like the people I am portaying without any doubt or flaws. Having said that, I find great joy in creating fine art. I work in soft pastel, graphite and coloured pencil for my portraits and watercolour for my scenes. I have done many commissions particularly of people/portraits and especially children whom I love drawing.
