Artist Bio

Brenda Hofreiter is a third-generation Floridian. Originally from Miami, she moved to the Orlando area in 1983. Although she has also created wheel thrown pottery and sculpture, traveling to Europe and seeing the works of the masters, inspired her interest in two-dimensional art.

Brenda attended classes and workshops and was awarded a two year Fellowship at Crealde School of Art in Winter Park. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for painting landscapes on location or "en plein air". She subsequently became the Fellowship Manager of the Painting and Drawing Department at Crealde. During her tenure, she assisted in children's classes, outreach programs and managed visiting artists' workshops. Brenda has studied painting with Greg Kreutz and plein air painting with Ken Backhus. The California Impressionists and the American tradition of painting "en plein air" continue to inspire her.

Brenda has been painting professionally since 1999, and her paintings have won awards in both local and national juried exhibitions and festivals. She is represented in Orlando by Leslie Boyd Galleries.
