Artist Bio

My name is Elexis Rupp. I grew up in the small town of Salina, Kansas where I took various art classes after school in addition to my daytime art classes. I then moved to California in 2007 where I became involved in the art program that University Preparatory offers. From these average classes I became quite interested in the reproduction of human emotions, thoughts, and the world that one sees. This has led me to taking advantage of various arts to fulfill my expressive needs during my free time. My favorite artists include Gustav Klimt and Michelangelo Buonoratti, whom I admire for both their fine skill and adventurous nature as human beings. My own style reflects this admiration, and seeks to merge both the delicacy of fine art with the expressiveness of new-age artists; above all it seeks to make people feel. Art is entertainment and release for me, so my style varies depending on my needs. Sometimes I paint, make fractal art, do pixel art, stipple, sculpt, sketch, or color things in Photoshop. My interest in digital art began with making pixel dolls, where I learned not only how to work in detail, developed a keener sense for shading, and gained steadiness with my hand eye coordination, but also learned how to work with very few colors and rather primitive tools. This transferred to an interest with digital painting where I began to scan my pencil sketches and color them in many programs (Photoshop, OpenCanvas, Paint.net, MSpaint, et cetera.) My interests then went to Flash, where I began to make animated skits, websites, and games that combined my previously acquired skills in pixel art, sketching, and Photoshop use.
