Doug Simpson's work has spanned many areas and interests over his career. His works include paintings in oils and acrylics as well as digital media. Subjects reflect the interests and experiences of the artist.
Doug's current focus is in metal sculpture and mixed media. Wall and free standing sculptures with acrylics and air brushed automotive paints on steel are the most popular of his works.
Lifecasts reproduced in paper, cloth, and stone are also combined with steel in his wall sculptures. A welding rod, torch, hammers, and a collection of chemical agents bring a depth of color, texture, and variation into the pieces. Textile hardeners, cloth, paper, and organic materials provide additional 3 dimensional aspects to his work.

Doug Simpson's studio is located in Denison Texas a few minutes north of Dallas. He is president of Artplace, Inc. providing multimedia art supplies to the fine art community.
