I’m a Finnish pattern-maker with a background in jewelry-branch, based in Milan, Italy.

Patternmaking means drawing something two-dimensional, that then becomes a three-dimensional garment. I love to explore different shapes and surface structures, and how to achieve them using fabric. My designs often contain lots of bits and pieces, as I tend to multiply and layer sections.

Sometimes the patterns themselves have such an interesting shape that they are worth a picture! So I started making these arrangements with the pattern-pieces. And that’s how I got to the pictures you see here. Each picture represents the same piece seen in two different versions, 2D and 3D: the pattern-pieces that are needed to construct the garment. I don’t really have a name for this kind of art. It’s not photography or digital art, not much paper-art either. Maybe pattern-art?
