Croydon (London) School of Art Keele University Sir Henry Doulton (School of Sculpture Charles left school in 1955 aged 14 - working in factory and industrial jobs until marriage at 21.Working in builders merchants for 20 years he managed to realize his ambition to become an artist and go to art college at the age of 42.Up until this time he had produced hundreds of paintings and sculptures which he has sold or given away to many of his loyal patrons and friends. It was only after getting acceptance to Croydon College of Art simply by showing them a few paintings and sculptures from his portfolio he realized that maybe he did have something to offer the art world . He had always thought of himself as not worthy to call himself an artist not realizing that his artistic self had journeyed through life encountering many hardships but had found serenity in his art of landscape and scenes of animals and nature - where humanity could not spoil his idea that life is a precious and nature the most beloved. Charles won a very special place at the prestigous Sir Henry Doulton Sculpture School in Stoke on Trent - an honour which has only been given to a very select group of students.Since working in the ceramics industry for the next 25 years Charles became th Art Director of a well known pottery company designing models and teaching artists and modellers how to make ceramic models for the pottery industry.Charles who is now in his seventies still teaches art and lectures all over the country.
