It is hard to believe that Spring has "sprung" and Easter 2012 is now history. Here in Arkansas, the weather has been more like June than March or April. Everything has bloomed and the trees are all lush and green. I keep waiting for the tornado's and severe thunderstorms to erupt as they usually do this time of year, but it has been relatively quiet. Other areas have been hit hard, but central Arkansas has had only rain and lots of sun. I must admit that 90F in April is a bit odd even for our state, but if you look back in history you will see that nothing has really changed. It's just like King Solomon said in the Bible: "there is nothing new under the sun." Although I had an episode with my health issues, I have been able to accomplish much. Charity and Nick's first wedding shower was Saturday and they were blessed with many, many wonderful gifts. We moved Charity's few belongings into her sister's garage while she completes her final pharmacy school rotation in Ft. Smith...the next time they are moved it will be to their new house! Wedding and Reception decisions have been made and the invitations have now been mailed. Even with a small, intimate wedding there is so much that must be attended too! And still...I feel the urge to create. New ideas have been "shown" to me. God has been answering my prayers for creativity and direction. Now, if only I could keep up with this blog and all the email and website stuff I would be fine! No, that's not totally true. There is housework, yard work, laundry, cooking...it looks like I need to get "down on my knees" and do some more praying! Maybe God will send the 'Keebler Elves' in the night to do all the yucky stuff so that I can just keep working/playing with my paints and oil pastels! Many Blessings as Always... Laura

If you go through life dainelg with each situation on a case by case basis, and never trying to attempt to understand LIFE' as a BIG concept, then you are not engaging in the abstract. For some people, abstract thinking is fun. This is the mindset of politicians, for example. For most, it's not a very productive way to spend your time. -

Sometimes I wonder why I try to MAKE things happen when I should just let God do it for me. I have bought so much Duck Tape and, although I enjoy creating with it and staging/photographing my work it has increasingly taken up more of my time. Dance Team try-outs are coming up soon, and I am busy creating Duck Tape floral arrangements to offer for sale to parents and well-wishers of the girls trying out. But... will they sell? Am I wasting my time? Or will I be so busy with orders that my "Art" will have to wait for a while? I hope it's the latter because like most artists I could REALLY use the money to pay some bills! I find it difficult to focus on just one thing...my mind is always one step ahead of me when it comes to new things to paint, create, or just new and better ways of doing what I am already doing. Do you have that problem or is it just me? Sometimes I feel like VanGogh must have felt when he painted 30 paintings in 30 days...I have so much in my head that I've just got to get it out! But, I have made time to take part in a Bible study with 3 other friends for 2 hours every Wednesday. It has been time well spent! Not only am I learning I am also around PEOPLE...unlike being in my small bedroom studio with no one else home all day. It has made me feel that I am part of the world again! My son's wedding is fast approaching and the wedding showers are coming up fast. They are having their engagement photo's done this weekend and then their first BIG shower is the next weekend. They also closed on a new house that is more than TWICE the size of ours...it is a dream home and I am delighted that they are able to afford such luxury...now, if they can just buy the furniture they will need to fill it! So, Nick will be moving to Conway on May 5th. That will open up his room in our home for...say...maybe moving my studio there so I have more room? I'm hoping my husband suggests that! My youngest son, Nate, is talking about volunteering for a second tour before his time is up in the Army Reserves. Afghanistan...the thought makes me shiver. He is only 23 and I want him around for a long, long time. Iraq was a bit different since he was located on a very large base. There was danger involved, of course, but not like what he would encounter in Afghanistan. He is a combat medic and the things he sees are not easily forgotten. Please join me in praying that he makes the choice that is right for him. Now...I must get to work, I mean PLAY...my paintbrushes and oil pastels are calling my name and you know that I cannot refuse them! May God richly bless you and fill you with joy today... Laura

Lol i may not be a professional ipentar, i am just an amateur ipentar really, but i know a lot about photography and getting paintings online. First you should put the painting in front of a dark fabric, like a background. prop up the painting just right, so that glare is not an issue. Turn of the flash on your camera, but make sure the room is VERY well lit. Lol its hard to see the real colors and brushwork if the room isn't well lit. I hope this is helpful coming from a kid lol. But I recommend using a Nikon D40x or cameras as such. That is what i use and it works like a charm hehe -

I have to write an autobiography, but I have no idea how to write the abcrtast portion. I don't know if it's anything like how it's written for science projects and labs.I tried googling some autobiography abcrtast examples and came up with nothing. I'd like to see some examples of autobiography abcrtasts, and a way I could write mine.Thank you! -

I am so glad the GARDEN SHOW is over. Had a little issue with my blood pressure so I wasn't able to do all I had hoped. But it was great having dinner with several of the wonderful folks who work with my husband, Kevin, at River Valley Horticultural Products. In fact, RVHP won a blue ribbon for best interpretation of theme. You need to check them out on the internet...here is their link and view a few of the photo's on their Facebook page: http://www.rivervalleyhp.com Please keep me in your prayers as I have a few medical tests in my near future. I'm hoping this new gastroenterologist will be aware he needs to look for ZEBRAS as well as HORSES as far as my entire digestive system is concerned. We've been looking for 'horses' for over 2 years so maybe, just maybe there is a 'zebra' there instead! May God continue to bless you in all your creative endeavors. Many Blessings, Laura aka Mrs. Art Lady

An impressive share, I just given this onto a cuoelagle who was doing a little analysis on this. And he in fact bought me breakfast because I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If possible, as you become expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this blog post! -

Although I am unsure of what PART of my post was helpful, I am assuming it is how to keep up with the computer aspect of marketing your artwork. It is darn right difficult! How I wish there were little elves who came in at night and did everything that needed to be done so that when I woke in the morning all I would have to do is do what I love most...CREATE! But, alas, this only happens with "shoes" ... and in fairy tales. I try to check updates on the website I joined and have been a part of since 2009 FIRST...I respond to all comments and vote for works by my friends and favored artists. If I have time I then do a little "browsing" and find/meet new artists and leave encouraging comments for them. I enjoy receiving comments so why not pass the blessing on to others? I upload new work as soon as possible. I enter all contests that any of my work meets the criteria for....it's a different website. I hope that Art Wanted begins to have more contests soon because it's a way to see how others feel about your art AND it's a big shot of encouragement when you place or even are in the "honorable mention" section! It's a way to have people view your art who may have never come across it before. I also try to check in on Facebook daily...by this time it is usually late at night and quiet around our home. I'm almost always tired by then so I don't stay around long. But I do always try to reply to my friends posts and upload links to my art. So...there you have it. I can't say that it is easy because it is not. I have been praying and asking God to bless my business so abundantly that I can afford to bring my youngest son (who is a better artist than I am but needs a good job) aboard and allow us to work together. He is phenomenal on the computer...can easily create beautiful slide shows and videos...and his photography skills are leaps and bounds beyond my expertise. Besides, I love being around him, probably because we are both "right-brained" and speak the same language! However, until that day arrives, I will just keep doing what I am doing and pray I don't lose the joy that art has brought into my life. Laura - Laura Grisham

I must say I am a bit confused on who exactly is responding to my blogs. I don't know who Aunt Laura is...Laura is MY name. It would be nice to know however, especially since my mother was adopted and we have no records concerning her birth parents. Maybe you know something that I do not. I believe that you can click on the envelope button and send email messages to me directly. I hope to hear from you soon...curiosity killed the cat, they say, and I am not ready to go yet! Why is it that when you PLAN your day it never seems to go as planned? Nothing I had planned on accomplishing was accomplished, yet I have been busy working all day. I wonder why that happens....

I’m impressed, I must say. Really rrlaey do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this. -

The pictures are uifbteaul! They brought a tear of happiness, seeing how uifbteaul Melissa looked!!!!You did a fabulous job capturing the special moments at the Wedding. Looking at the photos, you would never have known it rained!! I can't wait to see the rest of them!! But first I have to say, being the new mother in law and all when you have such a uifbteaul young lady and a handsome man for your subjects, taking the photos is easy!! Seriously, all joking aside, Tammi Melissa, I loved all the pictures from the engagement photos in LBI to the wedding photos at Skytop! I would recommend your services for anyone who is looking for a fantastic, caring photographer for their special event, and give you a 5 star rating!!! Thank you for taking care of my son, and his new bride on their special day!!!! -

Hey Ya'll, I've been working like crazy trying to keep up with actually COMPLETING paintings and staying up-to-date with all the computer stuff that comes along with trying to PROMOTE the completed paintings! Who knew it would be so time consuming! By the way, my oldest son, Nick is now formally engaged! He's had that ring since before Christmas but was waiting for an 'ordinary day' to propose. He took Charity on a hike to see the waterfalls at Petite Jean Mountain. My youngest son, Nate, & one of his friends went too so that he would be there to take photo's. Charity had no idea what was coming. It looks like we will be having an August wedding in Destin, FL...right on the beach, with my husband, Kevin, marrying them. He is a licensed minister here in Arkansas so just needs to get licensed in Florida. What a wonderful blessing! Laura Mrs. Art Lady

An Abstract is basically a suemmry of all the main points of the article. It's usually about a paragraph in length. It is helpful for people who have little time to read a 5-10 page article and want to know all the main points in a short, concise paragraph. To write one, you need to read the entire article first. Then, write a sentence or two about the background of the article. Write about 3-5 sentences describing what the article's results/findings are, and the last couple of sentences might state how their results/findings are relevant to the field of study. Writing the abstract isn't the hardest thing to do reading the article (which I've found can be over 20 pages long) and understanding all the important aspects of it is harder. Good luck. -

Please add one to what is correct. What i think so far is an abcstart class has abcstart methods. If we want to instantiate an object, we must do so in another class, because we cant instantiate inside an abcstart class. If classes extend an abcstart class, then methods should be defined in each class/subclasses.I think theres something else, but I can't think of others atm -

Dear World... I am new to blogging but have been writing in journals for years. It seems that writing a blog is basically the same thing. Good to know! I am very busy trying to catch up with dog portraits and creating floral paintings for the February HOME AND GARDEN SHOW in Little Rock, AR. My husband of over 30 years, Kevin, is the general manager and co-owner of a large wholesale/retail nursery in LR. The Garden Show is the first big event of the year. *IT WAS HERE SEVERAL YEARS AGO THAT I SOLD MY VERY FIRST PAINTING... so it is a special time for me. Last year I set up my easel and painted a dog portrait as people watched. However, I became ill and was unable to attend on the 2nd day. However, several weeks later I received a phone call from a woman who had seen my work at the Garden Show. Story made short: she purchased 7 paintings of various sizes for my largest sale to date of $3500. Needless to say I want to have plenty of new work available! I also want to have products from 'Art Wanted' available for purchase or order...so, I have ordered a few things just to check them out. Please send me a note if you have any suggestions for paintings or would like to talk to me about commissioned work. May God richly bless you today and everyday! Laura "Mrs. Art Lady"

I grew up in Keokuk, Iowa. My mother Mary Helen Miller was Babe McLeod's frneid. (Babe was Laura's niece I believe) Great woman by the way .One day when I was in my teens my mother and I went over to meet Babe at her Mother's home. (?) We went over to look at Laura's paintings. I remember the one car garage was open and there were a pile of painted canvases in there. I was floored. At the time I was studying art and I just could not believe the work that Laura had done. Long story short, we went through the canvases and my mother purchased quite a few. Aunt Laura gave me encouragement to study art even though I never met her. -

well I prefer more furigative stuff personally but I can paint in any given style. I think these are good examples of their kind but, their main success is derived from their interior decorative value. vis: house wall decorations. This I admit I dont seem to achieve, mine are stand alone' specimins perhaps. Two ingredients seem to make for artistic success, One is interior decoration value, the other investment value, outside of those categories you are going to at least have a big struggle. -

I am writing a paper. In all my other paerps, following APA format, you need to put your title on top of the first page above your introduction. My professor wants us to now to use an abstract and am curious where you would put the title. Before or after the abstract. If I put it after the abstract, its closer to the bottom of the page, which looks odd. And I don't think you're supposed to put it before the abstract. Is the abstract to be on a separate page maybe? -
