Self Portrait

When she was a little girl, a coloring book and a big box of crayons was all Beck needed to explore the world of her own imagination. She spent hours redrawing the pictures, adding her unique style, coloring them, and creating stories to go with each page. Then they could be displayed in the highest place of honor in the whole house… the refrigerator door!

Beck still loves to color but now she uses gouache and acrylics to illustrate in a whimsical world still flowing from that strong imagination land of her youth. Her blend of colorful characters and silly scenes work well for children’s books, magazines, educational material and giftware products. Beck also has a knack for trends that would lend well for the greeting card and giftware industries, (particularly the holiday markets!)

Beck lives near Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, where she enjoys being a stay-at-home mom to her son, Byron. He is the inspiration for her to follow her dreams of being a freelance illustrator and shares her creative genes. She also shares her home with her unbelievably patient husband, Bob. And a menagerie of furry, four-legged critters, round off the happy homestead. Beck’s other interests include knitting, walking, video gaming, reading, (still) coloring in her vast collection of old coloring books, hanging out in the library and book stores, playing with her dogs and watching lots of movies.

Here's a list of clients Beck has done illustrations for: Leihoku Elementary School, Waianae Hawaii; Alota Rubber Stamps; My Heart Stamps for You; The Angel Company; Danalen Stamps...

Please contact Beck if you have any questions. She is eager to get out there and color the world!
