Artist Bio

Paul Woodford.

Traditionally I came from a family of craftsmen, draughtsmen and painters.

As the pressure of studies associated with my professional career as an engineer relaxed, I started to paint seriously, joining the Victorian Artists Society where for a number of years I participated in their evening life class study groups.

During this time was fortunate to work alongside many established artists, in particular, “Jock”, Frater who was only to pleased to be a casual tutor.

Over the years my work in oils, acrylics, watercolour and pastel has been acquired for private collections in Australia, UK, Europe and the USA.

Much of this work has been commissioned to record memories of places, homes and pets. This interest in heritage paintings is reflected in one of my works being selected for inclusion in the exhibition of paintings celebrating the centenary of the Melbourne Exhibition Building, as well as being selected as prizewinner in the bicentenary exhibition of George Bass landing at San Remo.

It was also my pleasure to be able to tutor many aspiring painters in whatever medium they wished for five years at the Bundoora Community Centre.

Joined the, “Artists Society of Phillip Island,” soon after its inception with whom I participated in many of their exhibition and paint outs.
