*Epic Gallery International features a special selection of paintings and art from over 20 portfolios created by this artist, John Enright. Featured for his classical Renaissance themes, John explores the eloquent beauty of the human soul in his interpretations on canvas. His career started in illustration and gradually evolved into Gallery and private Commissions for Private and Corporate collections worldwide. Many of Enright's paintings have been published globally for over twenty years and licensed on numerous products. The Artist's biography is available for review. A collection of Contemporary, Abstract and Modern are now available to collectors worldwide. Painted in mixed media, some of these works are as large as 8 x 16 ft in dimension. "Earthscape" is the most current collection of mixed media works on canvas. The Sheraton Hotels is a current client.

"Listening to the Earth" is the best way to describe this new series of organic contemporary paintings by this artist. These are about visual sounds, poetic journeys for the eyes. Using tactile materials found along his travels, John utilizes these elements in a zen dynamic during the process of creation. Each work is a blend of sculptural methods and painterly application. No two paintings are the same, however, Enright enjoys working in series or collections. At any given time, he may have 4-6 paintings in progress at once. These works are about the Earth (Gaiae). Influenced by numerous ancient civilizations including Aztec, American Indian tribal art, petraglyphs and cave paintings, John begins by selecting various earths and binding them during the painting process to the surface of the canvas or wood form. These two and three dimensional forms then evolve through a series of weeks and months with any number or additional elements including bone, sticks, stones, metal shards, wire, paper, cloth and other found materia.

These works are evocative and spellbinding, at times, dark and melancholic. Symbolism is simplistic and poignant within spacious and higly textural backgrounds of color. The artist cites inspiration from Isamano Guchi, Cy Twombly, Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauchenberg, Brancussi and others. However, equal credit should be given to contemporary masters such as Marcia Myers, Bill Tonneson and Gyl Bruvel. Ambient symetry and visual chaos collide in a symphony of color throughout the work. Some are carefully and mathematically inclined, while other paintings are extremely spontaneous and explosive in nature.

Born in Southern California and raised on a ranch, John developed an appreciation for the land in early life. As a boy, he hiked throughout the forests and deserts and as a teen, John worked in the Forestry Service. Entering college at 16, his passion for art grew at a rapidly. He studied under Vernon Nye (watercolor master) and Joseph Maniscalco (oils). By the time he was 20, John had already traveled throughout Europe, completing his four year degree and then continued advanced training at the famous Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Then, working as an Art Director for over a decade, he honed his skills in the Advertising world with companies such as Doyle Dane Bernbach and freelancing his illustration to fortune 500 companies such as Atari, Hewlett Packard, Apple Computer and Silicon Graphics. His resume' is extensive and can be viewed in this archive. All this time, however, John yearned to paint what was in his own heart and soul, and began a new journey when he moved to the Hawaiian Islands. His dream came true as he devoted the next 15 years to highly detailed and poignant paintings of the sea. His work was exhibited througout the finest galleries on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii and throughout the Pacific Rim. His studies of the ocean brought him within the realms of research with notable centers such as the World WildLife Research Center, the SeaLife Park and Hanauma Bay. Dr.Bruce Halstead was one of many mentors and clients (worked extensively with Jaque Cousteau and sons). The paintings that resulted celebrated the diversity and complex circle of life that binds humanity to the animal world.

Today, John Enright's paintings are collected internationally by corporations and private collectors and his his exhibitions have attracted celebrities such as Robin Williams, Chuck Conners and Jonathan Winters. From classical portrait and figurative themes, to the more extreme abstract studies in Earthscapes, John Enright's art continues to evolve and to be involved with the earth. Many of these artworks are available for Gallery Exhibition internationally and for publishing. Selected titles will be controlled by a Licensing agreement for usage. Original paintings are also available directly from the Studio as well as Private commissions. The galleries that currently exhibit these paintings will need to be consulted on all other pricing and information during their exhibition.

Renouned for Old World Renaissance themes, the Artist strives for an authentic look to each work of art and canvas, many times adding an antiqueing patina or crackle finish to the final canvas before the protective varnish coating is applied. Canvases are rolled up and shipped anywhere in the world. The artist is also adept at a large variety of decorative scrolling, venetian plasters and faux techniques which include Trompe l' oeil, Grissaelle, and illusionary surfaces such as marble, stone, wood and much more.

The artist studied in Europe (Italy, France and Germany) and has been inspired by the Masters of the medieval era. Noticable inspiration has come from visits to the Louvre, Sistine Chapel as well as numerous Villas, Palaces and Castles across Europe. John remains a student of the classical Masters of this era and devotes his life to achieving results to parallel similar goals of elegance and beauty in both figurative and landscape paintings.

A new section of the Gallery is now devoted to Portraiture. From lifesize Oil paintings of the entire figure to torso or head compositions, the Artist coordinates a photographic session of the model(s) for accurate reference during the process of bringing each unique personality to life. Each portrait is carefully composed, then painted in oils on Canvas or Linen. The portrait can be painted in a thick or sculptural brushstroke (ala prima), or finely detailed brushstroke. Backgrounds are often painted in thick impasto texture in a dramatic contrast to the more subtle facial and skin tones. Custom framing is available for each painting. Interested collectors may review the *Procedures Page to discover the entire process of commissions.

"My portrait work is a reflection of the reverence and mystery of each personna revealed by the human face. Every human profile holds an enigma of past and future, this enchantment becomes a very personal experience during the actual process of painting. Capturing the soul and extraordinary energy of that individual on canvas has become an obsession and a passion for me."

For many years, John's seascape paintings of the ocean were exhibited along with Christian Lassen, Wyland, Tabora, Annenberg, Thomas Kinkaide and many other notable Painters of the Sea. He lived by the sea in the Hawaiian Islands and dedicated his entire energies to painting the world he experienced above and below the surface of the ocean. John donated his seascape paintings to many charities including EarthTrust, a foundation formed to preserve the natural coastline and sealife of the Hawaiian Islands. Whales, Dolphins, Sea Turtles and a myriad of reef life was the focus of his paintings. Many of John's seascapes have been reproduced internationally by companies such as Hallmark, Ceaco, Bradford Exchange and Hamilton Plates. Although John Enright paints numerous subjects his first love is the ocean. Seascape and marine Painting is in his heart and soul.
