Artist Bio

Steven Reece has lived in the Greater San Jose area most of his life. He has been creating art since he can remember. Blessed to have been trained to work in his grandparents woodworking shop at an early age. He has experience making some of his own toys as a child. After graduating high school Steven went to Gavilan College in Gilroy Ca. There he took classes for Basic drawing, Drawing 2, Art appreciation, Acrylic painting, Mural painting, and Figure drawing. He moved to the Central Valley and continued his education at Modesto Junior College. While attending this school he took Oil painting 1, and 2, Sculpture 1, and 2, Basic drawing 1, Drawing 2, Figure drawing 1, 2, and 3, Ceramics, Color and design, Art appreciation, Art history 1, and 2, History of Renaissance art, Introduction to computer graphics, Desktop video animation, and two Independent study classes. One for mural painting, and one for large scale drawing. The art buildings at Modesto Junior College still have a 2 story mural Steven and a small team of other students painted. He moved back to San Jose and took bronze sculpting at Mission College in Santa Clara. Steven has participated in various art shows and conventions across California. Notably the Sub Zero festival in San Jose, Dio de los Muertos celebration at the Sun Gallery in Hayward, My Favorite Nightmares at the Works gallery in San Jose, and Two buck tuesday at the Kalied gallery in San Jose. He has occasionally assisted in the completion and installation of public murals for Francisco Franco studios from 2008 - 2011. Steven’s favorite tools for creating art are the graphics tablet, paint brush, and scroll saw.
