Artist's Statement of Jeramie Griffor

In Jeramie's early years, it was always noted how much time and detail went into his drawings. In elementary school, he often got in trouble for drawing on the backs of worksheets and ignoring assignments. During his middle school years, Jeramie made much an advance in his works, with plenty attention paid to detail and lighting, not to mention a bazaar and unusual form of symbology not often found in such a young persons art. In Eighth grade, Jeramie won the Wayne County Resa Art Award for Riverview's Seitz Junior High School. Two years later he was recognized by the Detroit Free Press, as one of his political pieces was selected out of over 250 submissions, and posted in a 2003 issue of the Free Press.

Jeramie ran into many problems with his education, wanting only to paint and advance his talents, rather than "waste time" as he once thought, on high school education. Jeramie dropped out in the tenth grade, and devoted most of his time to creating art. Within three years, this truly paid off. By 2006, he was working on very large and well detailed acrylic paintings, and being commissioned on the side to paint murals. Because Jeramie decided he would like to further his education, he decided a distance learning education would be best for himself. He enrolled into the Penn Foster Private Distance Learning High School in 2006, and graduated mid-winter 2007, with a GPA of 3.7

Jeramie Griffor was born and raised in a low income community in Riverview Michigan. Because he was not often permitted to play outside, and did not own much, Jeramie was left to his imagination. Drawing after drawing, his room was filled with pictures of young and wild fantasies. At a young age, a lot of questions were raised that most children don't think about, such as "What does it mean to be a human being?", "Where did we come from?", "Is there life on other planets?", "What is infinity?", and "Where were we before we were born, and were do we go after we die?". These questions led Jeramie on a life long quest for the truth in all matters, and was most often expressed through his creative and imaginative paintings.

Though his style is unique and lots of effort goes into his work, Jeramie is still a budding artist, making efforts to connect with other artist, and waiting for the right shows to come along.
