Self Portrait

Self taught artist for the most part. At least with the digital stuff. My mother, grandfather, and paternal grandmother were/are artists. My mother is the only one still alive and her artwork can be found throughout Northern Texas and Oklahoma.

As a child, my grandfather would spend hours teaching me how to paint, how to capture light and to understand how colors worked together. Up into my early teens I won awards for my drawings, but my mother wanted me to devote my time to school and helping with the care of my maternal grandmother, so art pretty much halted for me then. I did turn to photography as an outlet when I got married.

All that makes me a newbie in a lot of ways. My newest adventure is learning to use the Intuos that my husband gave me for my birthday.

In October of 2008, my wonderful husband passed away suddenly. Brilliant and gifted, his accomplishments and ability to see humor in all things will forever be remembered. Sleep well Johnny P., sleep well.

I returned to my home state of Texas in 2009 to be near my parents. Many of my photographs reflect the beauty of the Lone Star State and much of my own garden.
