The Sudden Magical Journey to Enchantment Of A Fantasy Artist

Lillian came into the world on the 29 of May, 1969. Spending much of her childhood and teen years in a small town in Greece, she was never aware of fairies, elves & all this kind of existence. Nobody had ever talk to her about these charming "little people". Even though Greece has been a land of mythology with many Goddesses & Muses, fantasy has never been available to public at large. Lillian has been drawing from the moment she learned how to hold a pencil! Back to her childhood, as a lonely child in her family ( 8 years apart from her older sister ), her drawing skills had been developing at an incredible rate by drawing invisible friends to keep her away from that loneliness .

She first studied applied arts in Greece and after she left her country to live in London where she established herself as a Fashion Designer for 10 years. In UK Lillian graduated from University of London with a Bachelor Degree in Art & Design and specialised in Fashion Technology & Business. Though she did study art first, she had never considered herself as an artist. She never felt that had something to say by painting & drawing a pieace of art.

In 2004 Lillian resigned her job in UK following her presend husband & boyfriend at that time to France where she currently resides. Her fashion background allowed her to work in France as a customer consultant at a local shopping center. However in 2005 she left her fashion career to become a full time mother to her son who was born two months premature. Alex was already 5 months old when she started building a website for him dedicated to his prematurity. While she was working on the layout of her son's website on the internet, she came across with the fantasy & fairy art of Jessica Galbreth, Amy Brown, Meredith Dillman, Nene Thomas ....and more. That was the first time of seeing this kind of art and she felt immediately in love. The discovery of fantasy/fairy art made her really develope an incredible passion for it. She has always been into spirituality and mysticism and she is fachinated by the idea that we can not see everything & there is more of what we can see. This sort of art brought to her a great believe and a glorious creative imagination. It actually made her way back to her childhood.

She is living in a country side house surrounded by enchanted woods which they are a constant source of inspiration to her. Motivated by her love of nature and heavily influenced by many great fantasy artists, Lillian began drawing & painting.

Even though she had taken a number of life drawing classes in the past, she remain for the most part a self-taught artist. She loves watercolor and she constantly read books on watercolor techniques and studys the work of other artists. However, after struggling to find an approach to her art that speaks to her, she has come into her own style. She also developed her own way of using the well known technique of watercolor & sault. She mainly uses watercolor, ink and colored pencil and she plans to explore other mediums such as acrylics in the very near future. She does not keep a sketchbook, neither does a lot of pre-work such as roughs or color studies, and does not ever rework her pieces. When the muse strikes, she usually has a rough idea to what she wants the finished image to look like. Lillian get's her inspiration from almost anything… books, stories, fashion photos & magazines , other artist works, dreaming. She always writing down ideas or collects photos from magazines & books for her next projects.

" People that know me often call me an elf because I'm so small and nature . Yes, I am an elf pretending to be a human. I've always felt a calling to nature, and, even more strongly, an innate calling to magick. We are many of us in this world stuffed into human bodies. We are here to keep the magick alive that a lot of you have forgotten to see. A time will come when we will need it. But for now, we are having fun. "
