Artist-Actor-Writer-Photographer-Healer Latest news: Caper wins the 2009 Oyster Bay Spring Classic! Kirk crews on multiple sailboats and loves to win. The fantastic crew of caper took 1st this spring bringing their record to winning 3 of the 5 classic regattas in Oyster bay. There has been a great deal of interest in Kirk's work and there has been a lot of positive commentary on his poetry and short stories. He has been named the unofficial poet-laureat of Oyster bay. Kirk also won The Katlan Family Seascape award at the 08 Salmagundi Art Club, NYC, non-member juried show! The award winning painting is "Sonnet, before the bell" which is featured in my potrfolio here. I've never met a medium I didn't like.I Have been drawing since I could hold a crayon and started painting at age seven. 40 yrs later and I have worked in over 327 mediums, being most passionate about oil painting & stone carving. I have been recognized with over 86 awards (since 1994) for oils, acrylics, pen & Ink, stone carving, ice carving, caricature, abstracts, landscapes, seascapes, mixed media and photography (B&W and Color). I truly love to go out and paint, as they say "en Plein Aire along the water or out in the country. I also love to paint very local scenes that I previously took for granted, such as my own street when the dogwoods bloom. In order to support a greater color and stroke vocabulary for my on site paintings, I often relax and paint abstracts to music. With entire canvas' being rendered solely to one piece or album. In the past few years I've begun kayaking and racing on sailboats and it has afforded me a tremendous opportunity to photograph boats in a whole new way. The irony is that I end up working on these wonderful outdoor water scenes in my studio. I demonstrate for area groups in virtually any medium and subject from portraits to landscapes and pastel, watercolor, oils, clay... I teach privately and in workshops. My creativity expands beyond art in that I also love to write short stories, scripts, essays and poetry. I am a working actor pursuing TV and film. I'll add more to this bio later. Feel free to write with any questions about the work, technique, demos, classes, sales, commissions... And please accept my extended best wishes for a great day.
