Self Portrait

I guess I could be called a prodigal son to art.

When I was younger I was really heavy into art, always drawing from the time that I could hold a pencil. I had grand aspirations of being a professional artist, even pulling a stint as an amateur tattoo artist for a brief time in the wilder days of my youth. But as I grew into adulthood the distractions of family life and career took me away from art.

It was during my recent deployment to Iraq that I was forced to reevaluate my priorities in life. It turned out that art was extremely important to me. And since my return it has been the greatest form of therapy for me.

I have always been an avid lover of nature and wildlife. I am often found haunting the forests and fields of the southern states that I call home. I am very active in organizations for wildlife education and conservation programs as well as wilderness and wetlands protection. My goal is to share my love and awe of nature and wildlife with others through my artwork. In an attempt to have my artistic talents help the majestic muses that inspire me, I donate a portion of the revenues that I receive from my wildlife series to various conservation groups to help in their nature education and advocacy programs.

Thanks for you interest. - Brad
