Self Portrait

My name is Rana Adamchick, and I was born and raised in New York. I originally started out as an apprentice to a painting contractor, where I learned to use color and shadows to accentuate my work. Eventually, I opened my own contracting business. However, my heart just wasn't into it, as much as it should have been. Later, I began painting on canvas, and doing photography work for others. I found I had a natural love for art.

Over the years, I gave birth to 5 beautiful children, and with each one, my life altered. I guess you could say that giving birth made me look at life a bit differently than most.

I would see things that my children would point out, all the time. Sometimes, they would show me the good, sometimes bizarre and yet, other times -- bad things...but everyone of them was always interesting. I learned to look at life through the eyes of a child. Of course, once I did, I was able to see the world in a way that most never see it...or maybe, they just forget to look? I was capable of looking at this world in awe of its majestic beauty. Everything told a story, and I wanted to capture those stories in the best way possible. I can only hope to create what I see, onn canvas, in my murals, and through my camera lens, so that I can share it with others.

This is a continuous, ongoing growth and evolution of my art. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy creating each piece. My favorite quote?

My grandfather (a truly inspiring artist,) told me when I was a little girl, something that I will never forget. He said, "Some artists are taught, and some already know inside their hearts." I sincerely believe he knew what it took to become a true artist. I doubt I will ever be as good as him, but I hope to be able to express myself as he did...from the heart!
