Artist Bio

I do not paint what I see. I paint what I feel. I do not seek to represent any specific object or concept, but by allowing my brush to be guided as much by my subconscious as by my conscious mind, the patterns and textures that emerge then become visual representations of invisible concepts.

Painting, for me, is a largely experimental process. I am constantly discovering new ways to paint, using new brush strokes, and new colors, and finding new textures. I love watching the colors blend and interact with each other on the surface of the canvas and watching as each brush stroke extends from the last and leads to the next. Painting is as much (or more) about the process as it is about the finished product.

While the creation of each painting is an intensely personal experience for me - largely influenced by my own thoughts and emotions - my hope is that seeing these paintings will be a unique and individual experience for the viewer as well. My intention is not necessarily to convey the specific emotion that I am experiencing while painting, but to create a work of art that will allow and encourage the viewer to respond with their own emotion, in their own way.
