Self Portrait

Vanessa Cabanillas grew up in new jersey, and continued on to new york to study at parsons school of design. the first two years she struggled to discover what she wanted to accomplish with her studies. she finally realized how much of a passion she had for painting. Museum visits inspired her to go home and paint. Her paintings are always a reflection of herself and her experiences in life. she wishes to affect the world with her art, and to let the world see how she herself sees the world, and hopefully her views will change the world. The latin american origin in her blood is highly inspirational of her use of color. She tries to show her love for fashion and the female figure in her illustrations. Her influences include frida kahlo, ana mendieta, jenny saville, lucian freud, john singer sargent, alphonse mucha, and marquis von bayros.
