A trip to the Chrysler Museum changed me forever. The depth of the inspiration I felt was profound. I came home with a different understanding of who I was and who I am. No particular piece or artist stands out in my mind, only a feeling of comfort. And if you think about it, that's not always easy to find in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I came home and began to paint. It didn't matter that the oil paints I used were at least 15 years old. (I have new ones now) It just flowed out unlike it ever had before. I painted the piece "Mushrooms" (In my gallery) and to this day is still one of my favorite pieces. I don't think I will ever part with it. When I lack inspiration, it is always there reminding me that I can.
I took three months off of school, just a year from my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and enrolled at the Art Institute. The experience has been quite overwhelming and liberating. Having been mostly self taught, I surprise myself quite often with what I can achieve. I am still not sure what direction I want to take as an artist. You will find when I finally get it all of my work loaded, that I just cant stick with one media or subject. Just about everything fascinates me. I am constantly experimenting, looking I guess, for something.
I have to thank Kurtis for always encouraging me, supporting me, and reminding me that I can do it. Honey, you truly understand what creating art means to me. I love you!
Well, an update is needed here. It has been several years since I joined Artwanted.com. I was forced to drop out of art school, again because my family must come first. Needless to say, I haven't had the time until recently to create much. The job is gone! And I couldn't be happier. My family is more supportive than ever. So I am back at it again! We will see what life brings.
I appreciate you viewing and commenting on my work.
