While being in Holland, visiting my Mother-in-
law, who is very ill, we had many dinners in
Loosdrecht's harbor, which inspired me to paint
this oil.
The music gives this painting an extra melancholic
effect, which really makes me feel home sick.

I used a lot of texture in this painting
(impasto) see detailed
picture.
Since an oil impasto would take up to a year to
dry, I used a modeling paste texturing the
canvas first.
Then I just painted this oil with big rough bristles
(dry brushing technique) and lots of different
palette knives.
