Katalin Papp is an award - winning artist who studied art both in the US and overseas. She received her Masters in Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in NYC in 1996. She is an assistant professor at SUNY Farmingdale, teaches at Nassau Community College, and Hofstra University. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally. Katalin Papps philosophy is that the most important thing an artist needs to succeed is to enlarge the capacity to observe and translate the world. Practice in drawing and painting encourages close observation, which unites hand and eye. Her approach relies on this meditative relationship which requires calmness and concentration. The deliberate patient and focused emphasis on how mind and spirit can be developed through the act of contemplative looking, is the most flexible aesthetic equipment an art student and or artist of any age and level of achievement can have.
