See our collection of Mark Dixon art Raised in coastal southern California Mark started surfing in 1962. It was this love for the ocean and his passion for surfing that inspired him to pursue his early interest in art.
Early in his career, watching other accomplished artists was a positive influence. Surfing in Hawaii, California, Mexico and Florida created an excitement for life that lives in his paintings today. A self taught artist Mark's travels have spawned many related works. While on a trip to Florida, Mark was approached and offered work as an artist for Universal Studios and Disney World, he accepted. Millions of people have enjoyed Marks work there however; his heart was back on the California coast. He eventually returned home to surf the breaks he loves and the scenes he loves to paint. Being a certified scuba diver and an avid snorkeler, his life has always revolved around the ocean. Either surfing the waves or snorkeling beneath its surface, his love of the water is captured in his seascapes and underwater scenes.
Mark has tremendous respect for the ocean's awesome power and for nature's spectacular beauty. His ability to combine these elements is reflected in his art.
