I am kind of hoping a few Mushers stop in and see this as some did slow down as they passed and comment on our dogs. We have always thought though Bailey is too big to actually run a race like the Iditarod that one day he might sire some Iditarod starters if the opportunity arose. We are hoping some will remember that they noticed him :) As I find the mushers that I photographed I am sure I will be bringing it up :)

The Ceremonial start for the 2009 Iditarod Sled Dog race was today! Check out Iditarod 2009 in my portfolio for photos of the start! They are officially on their way and though I am rooting for a Mackey Trilogy I wish all the dogs and mushers Happy Trails and Safe Race!

We have a new edition to the family! His name is MiekoSahn. He's an Akita Great Dane Mix 10 months old. He is a great dog. His first few baby pictures chronicling some of his first events are here! It took a little bit of convincing but Bailey and he are almost 'thick as thieves'. It's been an interesting day I tell you. Mieko is a brilliant puppy and is a full 90lbs already with a year of growth left in him at least. He's already in training and went for his first harness run tonight with the bike and trailer. He followed along and did not pull, but did not fight though we were told he had little leash training even. So very well mannered really for a pup his size..seems to know he's a little big and gangly and does his level best to either stay out of the way or be in the way as much as possible. We are looking forward to lots of years of fun with him :)

The Iditarod sled dog race starts today in a few hours. Good luck to all the teams. They are off on the toughest sled dog event in the world! From Willow, Alaska to Nome they retrace the trail of the first dogs that did this trip while delivering diptheria serum for the dying population of Nome.

The ceremonial start of "The Last Great Race" was in Anchorage, AK on March 1st, 2008. The newest pictures in my gallery are from that start. Hope you enjoy them. There will be more to come as I get them edited.
