Self Portrait

When building any of his compositions the author rejects any rough-sketches, etudes. The architectonics and tonality of the picture, its general coloring are defined in the process of drawing. Hence the creative works of Irakli Tsabadze are spontaneous, closely interlaced with the flow of consciousness of the author. It is for this reason that his works are so difficult for the viewer to percept, to recognize their hidden essence, even though the elements of hyperrealism and readily acceptable naturalism are dominating in his works. Though often the world or the story conveyed by the pictures is of fairytale nature, the author creates his own mythology and invites us to follow him there. One cannot help thinking that this fantastic environment and articles had they really existed would have looked exactly as they are directed on those graphical sheets of paper. The conditionality which is so necessary for any artistic work is clearly pronounced here. Proceeding from the specificity of the material nearly every work is of a private, chamber character. Deep psychologism, tension of the event occurring in the picture is richly saturated with surrealist moment.
