Katy Fillingham was born and grew up in rural Britain in the Yorkshire / Lincolnshire area. From a young age she has loved creating. At the moment she is studying Veterinary Medicine at University and her art continues to be a source of escape and relaxation. Her art is inspired by the natural world. She is awed by the magnificent colours and textures that nature can create and likes to convey this beauty in her art, using many different mediums, but especially favouring the durability of acrylic paints. Her art has an impressionistic rather than realistic feel to it, concentrating on light and shadow and bold brush strokes. Katys appreciation of nature is not only expressed through her art; she took an extra course studying conservation to compliment her Veterinary career in a hope to contribute to conserving the natural beauty that inspires her so much.
