Kris Coene was born in 1976 in Antwerp, Belgium and currently resides in Brussels, the Capital of Europe. He was first influenced by his grandfather, who was also a painter, and he further developed his skills at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels. His first individual exhibition was presented in Brussels in 2002. He creates an innovative visually attractive art, which balances between impressionism and abstract art, using explicit colours.Materials used are canvas, synthetic boards, acrylic and oil paint. Figuratively, he disregards no subject: portraits, nudes, still lives, fantasy and urban landscapes. Very colourful, his luminous work is of impressionist and modern style. His figures are immaterial Kriss work is influenced by his considerable travels throughout the world. He has visited the Congo, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sicily, Greece, Turkey, Yugoslavia, South Africa and Tunisia. His determination to leave his artwork as a legacy as well as his understanding that each person as a human is unique, is what continues to let his creativity intensify. For Kris, art is complementary to philosophy.
