Artist Statement:

I love bright colorful landscapes, and hope to produce some of my own. The Fauvists (Matisse, Derain, Vlaminck, Dufy, Braque...) are my favorites. I paint en plein aire (outdoors) and alla prima (in one session). Painting outdoors is so much more interesting than in a studio. I paint in one session, because I am in a hurry, there is so much to paint and so little time. Watercolor has become my favorite medium, I find it so much easier to work with than oil or acrylic. I like to experiment, trying different colors and brush strokes. I am facinated by color, how different colors work or don't work together, which colors I like or dislike. I am also facinated by brush strokes, which ones look like a tree, a blade of grass, a rock, or maybe nothing at all. I paint without fear, after all it's only a painting.
