Challenging her creativity in a daily limited time by being a homeschool mom by day, a Malaysian-born artist/designer, Siti Nuriati Husin, loves her new busy and meaningful life. An accomplished pastel and colored pencil artist who works in still life, Siti says her style, realism, requires more time to complete a painting, especially with colored pencil. After leaving portraiture, her real adventure began into the crafting world, mainly paper art, which she describes as bits and pieces in her wanting to create something that can bring out her other creative side. In the beginning, Siti says, to be a crafter was hard because it's different than painting. But learning from other crafters, through books, videos and demos, she learned that crafting is not that different from being a fine artist. Siti enjoys painting still lifes with colored pencil, designing handmade cards and bookmarks, and creating paper name portraits in her home studio.
Her work has been published in Diana in Art (London, 2007) and Colored Pencil Secrets to Success (USA, 2009). Also, she has been featured in newspapers and magazines locally and in Malaysia. When she's not doing her arts and crafts, Siti and her husband love to be in the kitchen trying new baking recipes such as bread, cookies and cakes. Siti lives with her husband David and their son, Ben in Los Angeles, California.
