If your visit to Disney World includes visiting the themeparks themselves - keep an eye out for my artwork - it has been popping up inside the parks as well.  There is a fabulous display of my work at the Tower of Terror "Hotel Gallery" (in the gift shop at the ride at Disney Hollywood Studios), and I've heard rumours about the new Haunted Mansion gift shop - "Memento Mori" and other additional in-park locations as well stocking my artwork.  Stay tuned!

New Tutorial Installment

Follow me at Wattpad to get each installment free here

(and be sure to follow Matthew David Becket here to keep up with his projects, we'll be doing some collaborations)
I'm working on a new step-by-step Painting Tutorial here at Wattpad -  - (My user ID at Wattpad is JasmineBecket, follow me here) this is a completely FREE tutorial, it will show all the step-by-step photos & very detailed descriptions, starting at the very beginning (cutting up a piece of wood) until the very end (varnishing).

I have added a few new installments, so definitely check it out - already finished with the sketching and am now heading into colour! You will need to make an account at Wattpad to read it, but it just takes a second, and then if you click the "Follow" on my author page and "Add" the book here, you'll receive each update as I publish each new installment. This is ONLY up at Wattpad (I'm certainly not going to put hundreds of photos & pages up at Facebook for those who are not interested, lol), so definitely check it out if you are interested in my painting method, art in general, if you are a fan/collector, etc.

Specifically this tutorial will be focusing on the new painting I'm working on in my Butterfly Fairies collection - "European Peacock" butterfly fairy!

New Circus Chariot, Stilleven IX, Website Maintenance

Updates from Jasmine!

Important note:  There is website work afoot, and servers being maintained atStrangeling.com this week, and my usual admin is on vacation.  Most of the site is still functional, but may be a bit buggy.  If you are having problems placing orders you have three other options:  order on eBay ( Strangeling here for LE Canvases orStrangelingEmporium here for paper prints & open editions ), order on Etsy here , or simply email Amber@strangeling.com and let her know you'd like to place an order via email - we can always do it manually that way.  Things should be back to normal next week!

In other news - I have two new paintings to show you!  Both the originals have already sold, but we have prints and various canvases available now.  "Circus Chariot" is the latest addition to my Chariots series - you can see her here , and the lovely"Stilleven IX:  Vissen" is the latest addition to my Stilleven series, created for Stranger Factory's "Peepshow" group show, you can see her here.

Speaking of circuses, my "Bosch Circus" Masterpiece Limited Edition Canvases are almost sold out!  We have one left on eBay here before we auction off the final #5/5 LE Canvas.  These are the only Bosch Circus canvases hand embellished by me in paint, only five were ever made and they have sold FAST.

Circus Chariot

Original 12"x36" Acrylic Painting $7200 SOLD

Prints and Canvases are on eBay here and on Strangeling.com here
"Circus Chariot" - another very fun, whimsical painting in my "Chariots" series, with a dark circus theme. A lovely silver haired maiden with a ringmaster feel with her little whip & tophat! She's sitting in a Rococo chariot - flying over a misty landscape (with a distant circus train & tent) - with a Faberge inspired hot air balloon. My own original acrylic painting. This was a commissioned piece so the original painting is sold, but we have prints & canvases available now on eBay here

and on Strangeling.com here (if you are having difficulty ordering from Strangeling.com during server maintenance, email Amber@strangeling.com to order direct)

Stilleven IX:  Vissen

Original 16"x20" Acrylic Painting $6200 SOLD

Prints and Canvases are on eBay here and on Strangeling.com here
"Stilleven IX:  Vissen" - A piece I created for the Stranger Factory gallery in Albuquerque for their "Peepshow" group show. "Stilleven IX: Vissen" - the ninth in a series of works I have in my Stilleven series that feature "deconstructed" elements of still lifes inspired by the Dutch master painters of the 1500-1600s, along with lovely girls, faeries & nymphs (of course!). Stilleven is Dutch for "Still Life" and "Vissen" means "Fish". A lot of beautiful flowers, butterflies, fish & fruit in - all popular elements included in famous Dutch still lifes. This is my own original acrylic painting, hand painted on panel, the original debuted and sold and at the gallery, but we do have prints & canvases available now on eBay here

and on Strangeling.com here (if you are having difficulty ordering from Strangeling.com during server maintenance, email Amber@strangeling.com to order direct)

Check out all the other Stilleven paintings in the series here

Almost sold out!

"Bosch Circus" 20x20" Masterpiece Limited Edition Canvases

Only ONE is left on eBay HERE
These have sold so FAST!  We only have one left on eBay - she is right here

She's the last one at the regular price. After she sells, we will have the traditional auction for the final #5/5 last-chance Limited Edition canvas (these sometimes get quite pricey), so if you want her at her usual price, snag her now here

Part of my Masterpiece Editions, only five Limited Edition Hand Embellished Canvases of Bosch Circus were ever made.  These are the only canvases of her that I have hand embellished in acrylic paint, signed and numbered (out of five), and they are the BIG full sized 20"x20" gallery wrapped canvases on the deep/thick profile stretcher boards.  No more will ever be made.

This piece is inspired by the circus history in my own family (a troupe of aerialists from early last century known as the Flying Behees) and of course some phantasmagorical animals and performers inspired by Hieronymus Bosch (from considerably earlier). I had so much fun with all the little animals & figures in this piece! Original Painting measures 26" framed in a handcarved dark wooden circular frame, and is priced at $8200. It will debut at the Corey Helford Gallery on January 24.

Two sizes of glossy paper prints (signed on the back by me) are available - 8x8" ($9.99 this week) and 12x12" ($19.99 this week). In addition, we now have two different kinds of canvas prints are available! The Masterpiece Limited Editions are limited to an edition of only FIVE canvases, hand embellished in acrylic paints by me personally, signed, dated, and numbered out of 5, measuring 20″x20″ on thick gallery wrapped wooden stretcher bars (ready-to-hang). Only FIVE of these will ever be made, and are $595.   The #1 Masterpiece Limited Edition Canvas is up for auction here.  We also have the Open Edition Canvases which are remarqued with the JBG initial on the front, measure 12″x12″ (also wrapped & ready-to-hang) and come with a signed certificate of authenticity, and these are priced at $125.

Paper prints & both types of canvas prints are at Strangeling.com here (just use the drop-down box under Fine Art Print options to choose) -

Happy New Year, New paintings & new projects from Jasmine! http://eepurl.com/baBTnD

Updates from Jasmine!

Happy New Year!

We're finally back home in Florida (had a nice visit with our families up in KC for the holidays), back into my usual painting routine. I have a lot of exciting things planned for 2015! Among the first things I want to do is try to schedule more live painting broadcasts online through my Livestream - I'll be sure to let everybody know at least a day ahead of time so you can watch and pop in for Q&A (this time, I'm going to have Matty field questions and dictate the typing to him, so I can get more actual painting done). Other new projects through 2015 will be the remaining book character illustrations for my new Strangeling book, a lot of new Alice paintings for my Alice In Wonderland Oracle Deck, and a new focus on more surreal / magical realism paintings for my upcoming Surrealism themed Oracle Deck. I'll be getting a lot of Disney projects done this year - including a special piece for Disney's D23 (I'll be doing a signing there during D23) in Anaheim, my Take Over of Disneyland's WonderGround Gallery, and more events here at Disney World in Florida. I'll be at Dragon*Con & MegaCon, and will be returning to Kansas City for both Spectrum (in May) and for the KC Renaissance Festival. In October I'll have my primary solo show at Eight And Sand Gallery in Seattle -showcasing a new collection of paintings called "Birds and Beasties". Additional travels will have me going to Japan, UK and Europe. It should be a very busy year! Keep an eye out at myFacebook Events Page and even more importantly my website Strangeling.com to find out my schedule, updates, works in progress & more. Whew!

And for today, now that we're done celebrating - the three new original paintings that debuted at my Miniature Marvels show are now up on my website (the originals all sold at the Pop Gallery, but we do have prints & canvases available) - just scroll down through this update to see them all!  Also a great article & a work-in-progress for an upcoming group show at the Corey Helford Gallery too.

Stilleven is Dutch for "Still Life" and "Lieveheersbeestje" means "ladybug". A lot of beautiful leaves & fruit in thise one - all popular elements included in famous Dutch still lifes. This is my own original acrylic painting, hand painted on panel, the original debuted and SOLD at Downtown Disney's Pop Gallery, we do have prints & canvases (limited edition canvases are hand embellished by me in acrylic paints, signed & numbered, wrapped on boards & ready to hang. Sometimes though I like to do pieces as PASTEL paintings, like this one I did in my London studio for my show at Pop Gallery at Downtown Disney / Disney Springs Disney World. Pastels on panel, the original is SOLD but we have glossy paper prints are $13.99 (signed on the back by me) and we have hand embellished limited edition canvas prints (8x10, wrapped on boards & ready to hang) for $100 up at my website (worldwide shipping)

."Sanura"

Original 12"x16" Acrylic Painting $4600 SOLD

Prints from $9.99 & Lt. Ed. Canvases are HERE

Sanura is an Egyptian princess - an illustration for a short story written by Kachina Mickeletto that will be appearing in my upcoming art book (a sequel to Strangeling - my first book ) - the followup will be published next year by Blue Angel. Sanura is a grumpy Egyptian princess, shown here with an Egyptian Mau cat (modeled after my own cat Tigrillo, who looks like a plump little mau). Aesthetically I've tried to evoke the imagery of the Egyptian Revival movement of Victorian England and academic France and the romanticized settings of Alma-Tadema, Gerome, etc. combined with one of my own contemporary pop surreal big eyed girls. I really love how it turned out. Keep an eye out for the book!

Original painting is SOLD, but prints & Limited Edition Canvases are HERE

(again, limited edition canvases will not ship until after December 15, but the glossy paper prints signed on the back by me will ship immediately as always!)

"Wood Sprite 1"

Original 7x6.5" Acrylic Painting on Wood $800 Available at Eight and Sand Gallery in Seattle.  Details below.

Prints from $9.99 & Lt. Ed. Canvases are HERE

"Wood Sprite 1" - original painting for sale debuting at Eight & Sand Gallery - email Alex here if you are interested in the original painting.  Prints/canvases are here A piece I did for the "Wood" group show at Seattle's Eight And Sand Gallery (all featuring paintings on wood, the show opens on December 13th - check it out!) - this lovely little Wood Sprite was painted on a slice of wooden log - complete with bark. I painted the leaves as sort of a trompe l'oeil - a bit of an illusion to look as if the leaves were lying on top of the painting, with the wood sprite peering through a hole - but in reality it is a completely flat piece.

This original painting is AVAILABLE - it is 7x6.5" original acrylic on a wood slice panel (complete with bark) - priced at $800. She will be hanging at the Wood show at Eight And Sand Gallery, opening December 13th, the gallery will also ship worldwide if you would like to purchase her online - email the curator Alex here

Prints will be available soon at Strangeling.com, original painting has already been sold. Sanura is a grumpy Egyptian princess, I have kept this piece in a similar style to my other Princesses with Cats paintings, but with an Egyptian flair rather than my usual rococo series. The kitty is based on my own Tigrillo, who looks like a rather plump silver mau . I'm a lot further along now, just about finished with her face & makeup, starting in now more on the background and the little cat. Hopefully should have her all done sometime after Thanksgiving!

PLEASE NOTE:  Many of my other limited editions are running very low in quantity and are in danger of selling out soon.  If you have a favourite, or have been procrastinating on buying one, you may want to snag one now before the big holiday rush (we will probably sell out of several over the holidays).  Most Limited Edition Canvases of mine can be found at http://www.strangeling.com (go to Shop - Fine Art Prints - and then on each image you will see the Lt. Ed. Canvas option, if available, on the dropdown box under Fine Art/Print Options).
