As the last operation started, I tried to phone one of my friends, Michal from Ashdod, to ask her to come stay with us for a while.. Somehow, perhaps because of the war, I could not reach her phone number... So , I e.mail her work.. and the e.mail reach her after many days... She wrote yesterday : "..... ......We are OK thank God but it is very frightening We have alerts every day and my brother's house top floor was bombarded he lives 2 floors below on the other side and people were saved by miracle.
We had a lot of bombs in our area. My brothers house is very near. It's very hard because we worry about the children.
To be walking outside you should have a shelter within 45 seconds.
A woman living nearby died and she is a mother of 4.
Many worries and I just hope it will be over without more people hurt.
I am really glad to hear from you
Let's meet when thing improve
Love
Michal" The photo attached is Michal, my friend from Shenkar college days, at the printing table, probably working at her final project, 1988. President, Shimon Peres, estimates that the fighting is done in the next few days - so he says in an interview tonight, a special channel 2 news. He did not think we should expand the operation and is not sorry about the disengagement from Gaza, but think you might have to do it otherwise.
"when you fight terrorism, victory is not a prominent bribery meaningful," said Peres, "It's important not to separate and that we got to lose. The aim of the operation was to protect the residents of the South, did not sign an agreement with Hamas. Israel has changed the situation in Gaza".
Peres also referred to the decision by the UN cease-fire immediately. "Always decides on the UN cease-fire, this is not our failure," emphasized President. "Hamas hurry up and said 'no' cease-fire, not so much claims to Israel."

President said that he is not sorry for making the disengagement plan: "I justify the disengagement. Now if the settlers were there, we had to protect them now, and there were also victims among the settlers. Our only mistake was not arranged well the timing of the disengagement with Abu - Mazen."
President believes that the elections will be held in time. "I do not see what will postponement. In any event, what to do without, I hope we reach the end of hostilities." "

I pray for you all.
I wish you everlasting peace, you deserve it...
.... .......
I feel the Jewish people have had more torment than anyone else in the world and it's time they stood up and retaliated... .... ......
I feel so much but dont know what more to say......I wish you happiness my dear friend..."
Dear dear friend - Thank you so much for your kind words... I wish you and yours, only the very best...
WITH LOVE & everlasting PEACE - AMEN!... Nira.
Thanks to ALL those send me mails of concern.
It will be impossible to try explain what is really going on here, in just few words, and I don't really...
The reason I decided to write today, is one artist, ask me to do so...
No I'm not politician, but an artist..
No I'm not a protest artist, but an artist who enjoy to create beauty.
Some artists maybe enjoy talks politics, I don't.
I started my way in AW, in Aug, 04... but my way in internet started before. I actually wished for a virtual "stage" to my ART... It was by chance that I found this site.
Since I become active in the internet, I understood that a lot of people are very interested in knowing more about Israel.... Some know much, others, know none... or very little.
AND.. There are those who know just very little, and make huge stories out of the reality they never really lived... but maybe saw through the eyes of a reporter.
Yes, I learned that the media show partly the Israeli side of the story.
Many people who I met virtually, were very supportive .
I also understood that by my words, I can't describe what happened in this country since, I Nira remember herself.
One thing is sure... No one here really wish to do wars... People need the peace to live normally, without daily fears.
Just few days ago, I went to eat with my mother breakfast... I found her with tears in her eyes... she's not that kind of lady that is crying fast usually... ( I don't remember when she cried before)
I asked her, what happened ?
She said to me, there will be a ground attack of our army in Gaza, and that means the price might be too high.... death of more people.
I told her to turn off the radio...
Ever since I can remember myself, as small girl there were wars and terror here, in Israel.
As I see it : terror is a war..
OH.. Yeah, I remember those days, living at my parents home, 7:00 o'clock in the morning, first thing, is the news... yes, the first thing my mother used to do as she got up in the morning. Of course, every hour, my parents need to hear the news, like most people living in Isreal, i think.. NO, personally I prefer to hear less.
My morning starts with kids channel, another start for the day, to my kids.
AND... OH yes... we don't like the innocent citizen of both sides get injured or killed in war. Not ours nor theirs. It's very painful to see the horrors of war.
and I'm not the only one... today, I talked with a friend... She told me she cries when she saw yesterday the news from Gaza...
During 8 years the citizen of South of Israel are being bombed by those kasam rockets...8 years... and now those improved missiles - Graads.
It started in Sderot, but those missles are in Ashdod and Ashkelon, Be'er she'eva... and more getting closer to center of Israel.
I hope a real solution will be found..
We ALL Hope to live here in peace, one day very soon. And.. no I don't think there's hate here in my country, but tiredness...
The other day, I saw kids from Sderot on TV, special buses took them to see a song festival, so that they can forget few hours from the kasam and shelters. No their heads were busy with hearing the news.. if there were kasam there part of the country...
THEY ACTUALLY DON'T HATE... :-)... They feel sorry and pity for the children of Hamas people... One said to his friend : just imagine that your father is working for the Hamas.... ....
You know, there are things you should hear and see in your own eyes to be able to understand.
With HATE you bring NONE !!... You can achieve PEACE, only by LOVE, And understanding.
Because in war there are no winners.. but lost of blood on both sides... and this hurts...
FOR BETTER DAYS...
"Hello all
In this time of conflict in Gaza, it would be good to remember the thousands of young people and children living under the threat of Kassam bombs for more than 8 years. This past summer, my 21 year old daughter Dana made this video. I was in the United States with my two younger children Mayan and Gabi, at Camp Interlaken, where they were guests of the wonderful Milwaukee JCC. I was unaware that Dana had made this video and she showed it to me only this morning, on this the 7th day of the war in Gaza. Since Saturday afternoon, the Tzeva Adom (red) alarm has sounded 28 times in our kibbutz and many bombs have fallen; however, we are of high spirits and our thoughts and prayers ......"
