Press Release Working in a style he terms spontaneous surrealism, Konstantin Kachkachev paints a world full of surprise and intrigue. His universe may be more fantastic than logical in construction, but it surely inspires and provokes through moments of straightforward grace and whimsy. Landscape and figures are constructed with a fascinating geometry that both represents nature and quirky invention. Figurative elements are suspended in the atmosphere, perspective is broken down and then reconstructed, and bodies seem to turn themselves inside out. All of this takes place in a convincing, skillfully rendered space. Kachkachevs skies are sublime in their golden hue. He exhibits a masters hand for atmospheric perspective. The paintings display a great depth of color that creates a mystical backdrop for Kachkachevs surreal forms. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1961, he left for St. Petersburg, Russia to study and then later moved to Israel in 1990. His work has been shown in the Palace of Pioneers in Tbilisi, Georgia, and in the House of the Artict and is held in many private collections in Israel an USA.
