Madisons paintings are meant to move and inspire, they are raw, honest, and filled with the passion she feels as she paints. Whether as an intimate psychological narrative, or capturing the imaginative in form, for her...its all about releasing, and letting go of pre-conceived images in her minds eye.

The paintbrush leads me in a trance-like dance across canvas and whose expression makes me giggle. I am both enlivened and refreshed as what once was a blank canvas, becomes alive with the birth of an idea.

She has her Bachelors in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, and has been drawing since she was four. In High School, she covered desks with her cartoon images and began painting them about 7 years ago. She is a member of the society for Childrens Book Illustrators and Writers, she is self-taught and enjoys Painting, Drawing and making boxes our of found art and other objects. Madisons studio is here in her home in NE Portland.

I love it here and as a newer resident of Portland I look forward to being an active part of the creative community. Madison also lives part of the year in San Diego and works from there as well.
