Thank you for viewing my profile and welcome to my art. I was born in the Netherlands (1974) and currently live in Amsterdam. My goal is to use and develop my talent as much as I can.
My creative development is derived from basic educations in printing techniques, painting and drawing. However, mostly I am self-taught. In the twenty years of working with pastel I developed a unique style and technique. For inspiration I have always searched within myself. When I give my mind enough time and focus I begin to see images so full of detail, beauty, color, and often, complexity that I am rarely capable of copying them. It is not my goal to reproduce what I see in my mind, because it is too complex, but it is obvious that it inspires me.
Although I have always searched for inspiration within myself, Jugendstil (art nouveau), and naive artworks (primitivism) have had a great impact on me, and probably, it has influenced my artwork.
Properties of my work Bright colors, dark colors, contrast, rhythm, detail, ornamental elements... Besides some ingredients of naive art (primitivism), art nouveau, it may also contain elements of surrealism, magic realism, and more.
