A BRIEF BIO...

Angela was born into Art, a long line of artists & poets preceeding her including noted artist, "Charles Everett". At a young age she never understood why others would ask, "Who taught you to draw?" She thought it was something one could just do, like breathing. At five the realisation broke that artistic interpretation was not humanly universal, when her pen & line picture was given in a book to Queen Elizabeth II for her Silver Jubilee celebrations. From then on she thrived on the appreciation of those around her. At ten a school teacher introduced the paths of the Masters & encouraged her to draw the human form from life. Later in her teenage years she began to sell photorealistc drawings to family, friends & beyond ...

ARTIST STATEMENT

"My mind insists to only work in rainbow colours, creating pictures of allegorical fantasy designed to lift the spirits"

About my work...

While I use gouache on paper & canvas I have also developed a textured 3D medium based on panels by "Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh" of the Glasgow four. (www.crmsociety.co.uk) This is a gesso primed hessian on stretched boxed canvas which can be worked into smooth texture, medium & tapestry textured bases. Most designs are created by use of water-colour, Gouache & Pastels which are sealed for protection. 3D liners define the image with the addition of jewels, metal leaf, shells & beads which glisten in the light. Designs work around the edge of the canvas.

I am influenced by the Art Nouveau period, Greek & Egyptian Mythology & 19th Century Japanese Art.

QUOTE..

" I paint because I am compelled to do so" L.S Lowry.

" The longer you look, the more you see; The more you see, the deeper you think; The more you think, the longer you look" A.Hatton.
