I was raised on the shores of Southeastern Massachusetts in the town of Westport. I received a Bachelors in Fine Arts in 1987. My studies included illustration, design, art history, photography, and textiles. I currently paint with acrylic on any surface. My fascination with cultures of the world is my inspiration. The interplay of textile patterns and the mixed colors are an integral part of each composition. I like to paint the beauty in ordinary elements.
In 1991, I relocated to Maui, where I spent the next 10 years. It was a very special time and place to learn about life, people, and the pursuit of happiness. I joined the art community and shared ideas, and techniques with other artists. My work often reflects my feelings on time spent there.
I typically paint in rich, organic colors because they are true to nature. I find them to be grounding and soulful. In some of my work, I create texture through organized, yet haphazard brush strokes. A part of me goes into every piece.
I, now, live in Carlsbad, CA with my husband Dan. I still paint with the same inspiration and ideas of simplicity, integrity, and compassion. I hope my work brings much joy and comfort to others.
To be able to see some of the greatest works ever painted, sculpted, composed or built is a dream yet to be fulfilled, but, worth waiting for.
