Working in a new medium

I've recently started trying to work in some new mediums, the most recent being dried rose petals, and this is the outcome of the experiment (below). I was hoping to get some feedback on this piece; some helpful ideas on improvements or a few suggestions on other mediums that maybe fun to try would be really appreciated.

Quite a different medium. Different is always good in the art world. I'd love to know the process of using them. Ann

What a great idea. The petals work well as brush strokes. Nice work

Thank you for all your replies and positive feedback, what you have all said has been such a confidence boost and I really appreciate it. To make the piece the process was;

* dividing the petals into colour piles with matching tones,

* dividing them again into full petals and those I had chopped to specific sizes,

*I layered them onto a prepared layout on top of a PVA base,

*then lightly brush PVA on the petals after placing each one to ensure it's covered in a protective layer.

It took weeks, put on reflection I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. It's now down to deciding whether to do a larger petal piece or trying another medium.

Thanks for the explanation. It sounds like a lot of tedious work, but very unique and worth the effort. Nothing to stop you from proceeding with this idea or using different materials with the same process. I'm sure you'll come up with interesting textures if you mix and match. Ann
