I want the "old stats" back

Sorry, I liked it better when the stats were on every hit. My stats have dropped so much on this site and I have to admit that I am beyond frustrated and aggravated as an Artist and with AW. It's not enough to change my loyalty as an AW artist. I'm still here--right?

But when the numbers were recorded differently in whatever way they used to be...it made me---and I'm sure many other Artists here happier to know that the world is looking at our work.

I'm sure buying Art--for anyone in this "Massive Recession" is just not happening. I'm sure that the "Starving Artists" like myself out there know exactly what I'm talking about. Sorry to SOUND NEGATIVE..I try to be and think more positively in my life and in what do.

They are only numbers, I am sure the love is still out there. Perhaps this will inspire you to do a little more self promotion. Sometimes the bar is raised to make us better.

it isn't about the number of hits...it's about your buyers. how has that number been affected? if you aren't selling, you aren't selling...numbers won't matter. for those of us who use these sites as marketing tools, it is important to have an accurate idea of real hits. the new pie charts are very helpful as well. thank you AW the art market is discouraging but will fake inflated numbers make you feel better? i 'm not sure i can support that line of thinking....kinda just false hope that merely being on this site is making the best effort to market your work.

The numbers can be a blow to the ego, since they are they actual individuals coming to your work, but think about it..do you really want to know how many google bots hit your page? not really helpful IMHO. Personally I like knowing the real traffic...makes me want to make the effort to drive traffic in personally when the numbers get low. Also, as it was also said, it is not a reflection of sales anyways. If you were selling before, the real humans will remain. Google bots aren't going to buy anything...why would you want to count them?

Well, maybe AW can focus on a Publisher's list...so artists can get more exposure...i.e. "sells". I've thousand of google bot hits, but no "sells" since 2008...and that was a small print. We all know the art market is hit or miss...then there is the politics of it all. Just got to be dual source and try not to starve!

I was wondering about the numbers myself. It is a bit disconcerting to see the greatly diminished visitors to my portfolio but then I am not counting on visitors stats to my portfolio to drive sales. After all it's not how many it's who comes that counts.

I have been having good contact through Facebook actually because I have a Fan Page - A Painter's Loft - where I can post links to ebay auctions, shows which has translated into sales for me. so It doesn't matter if 500 people have looked at my page - all you need is for one person who wants to buy to look.

The numbers have been greatly inflated in the past. Anyone disappointed by the realistic new numbers is a "hit" junkie. In a few months you'll get used to it. Why live in a fantasy when you can have the truth. C'mon Mike. Are we children here? Welcome to reality and clean the sand out of your ears. The matrix has been unplugged. We're back in Kansas! This ain't OZ Dorothy!

I just wanted to post for all the replies that my original post recieved.

I really appreciate the fact that so many of you took the time to reply.

I have given the matter much thought, and yes, I would rather have a person looking at and hopefully enjoying my work for what it is.

Thanks Again.
