Hello everyone :) Just wondering if anyone uses any other online portfolios and if so...what is your experience like with them? I have a free portfolio at absolutearts.com and have been thinking of upgrading it. I've also been thinking about yessy.com. I'm just trying to increase exposure to increasing sales (I'm also increasing my exposure in the physical world by hanging art in more locations and participating in more projects etc. :)). And you?

Yes, I do. I use Redbubble and Artist Rising...but, very minimal success. Online is not as cracked up as they state. The internet is overly saturated. You have to fine new and profound was of getting exposure. No one likes to admit it, but you have to work hard to get recognized and exprosure. Galleries have long lines and high commissions, festivals are not always contusive to real sales, and online can be time consuming. So, it kind of hit or miss or Russian Rolette...but, we have to keep striving! One day in a blink of an eye...we are on top of the world!! Viva la ART!

I agree with everything already said! It's hard work! I've had a go at endless different sites, online portfolios including redbubble, fineartamerica, deviantart, voodoochilli, saatchionline, allsorts. The only place I've ever had worthwhile traffic which has actually resulted in sales is my myspace profile! I set it up as part of a task for uni two years ago, and my number of friends, messages and income has rocketed. I've had some commissions and sales through it, and there's actually quite a community of artists on there, and an alright forum too. The great thing is you can 'make friends' with anyone, not just other artists as you do on here, and so you can hunt for potential clients. Here's my profile (which I keep more up-to-date than any of my other arty webpages, even artwanted) just so you can get an idea of how I've made mine work: www.myspace.com/kelliehogbenart

fineartamerica.com the discssions are viable, lively and there's a ton of them...you can connect and talk with just about anyone about anything. i'm not on these sites for sales, so i cannot comment on that aspect.
