First Poem I ever Wrote!

I am a Man

I am a man today today I am 17 I am to slay a lion, as did my father at 17 and as did his father before him

my father' father had his hands and, perhaps, a stone my father had a large hunting knife, and I have a gun

How in the heck are you supposed to post poetry here if you cannot control the lines??? the above poem is in 11 lines, it is impossible to read in 3!!!

The best way to set up a poem for centering and line spacing is to apply HTML language to the copy but HTML is not allowed on the discussion boards. The simple way to break the lines as I did in your example is as follows: (1) Type the line exactly as you want it to appear. (2) Leave the cursor flashing at the end of your line and hold the 'shift' key down as you press the 'enter' key one time. This will move the cursor down into position for the next line. Repeat the above for each line. Be sure to hold the 'shift' key down as you advance each line. I hope this helps.
